History of the Ulises Steam Tug
The ULISES – Steam Tug model was an ocean-going tug. During the sixties, maritime traffic was very intense, the coming and going of goods crossing seas and oceans around the world was constant. This activity was not without its risks; therefore the work of ocean-going tugs was vitally important, helping all those vessels that suffered mishaps. At that time, metal was the basic material used to construct the boats, combined with a certain percentage of wood. Builders took advantage of the strength of steel for the hull and the comfort of wood for the crew areas, which meant that they turned out models of singular beauty despite the fact that the boats were designed as working boats.

History of the Calella Light Boat
The CALELLA – Light Boat is a type of fishing charter with a firmly routed tradition throughout the Mediterranean, although particularly numerous off the coast of Catalonia, at night and using lights, from whence the name ?bots de llum?(light boats). These boats, around 16 feet in length are usually crewed by two men and are mainly used for fishing mackerel and sardine, although they can be used for any other fish or crustaceans that might be attracted by the light shining down from the large gas-lit fanals. One of their particular characteristics are the two large stabilisers ?escuas? to limit the rocking of the wave swell, and the replacement of the helm with two ropes that operate the rudder through the fanal support.

History of the Amerigo Vespucci
The Amerigo Vespucci is a tall ship of the Marina Militare, named after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Its home port is La Spezia, Italy, and it is in use as a school ship.

In 1925, the Regia Marina ordered two school ships to a design by General Lieutenant Francesco Rotundi of the Italian Navy Engineering Corps, inspired by the style of large late 18th century 74-cannon ships of the line. The first, the Cristoforo Colombo, was put into service in 1928 and was used by the Italian Navy until 1943.

The second ship was the Amerigo Vespucci, built-in 1930 at the (formerly Royal) Naval Shipyard of Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). She was launched on February 22, 1931, and put into service in July of that year.

The vessel is a full-rigged three-masted steel hull. The three steel masts are 50, 54 and 43 metres high, and carry sails totalling 2824 m2 (30400 ft2) The Amerigo Vespucci has 26 sails – square sails, staysails, and jibs: all are traditional canvas sails.

Other than during World War II, the Amerigo Vespucci has been continually active. Most of her training cruises are in European waters, but she has also sailed to North and South America, and navigated the Pacific. In 2002, she undertook a voyage around the world.

History of the Gamella
“Gamellas” are, along with “dornas”, the most emblematic of the popular Galician embarkations.

With snubbed bow and stern and a flat bottom they can be either rowed or sailed. Completely built in pine they were traditionally painted red, using a mixture that served as both careening and paint. Nowadays they can be found painted in a variety of bright and cheerful colours. The name comes from the “gamella”, i.e. trough or basin, used for feeding animals.

The “Carmiña” is outstanding above all because of the ease with which she can be brought on shore and her dimensions, with a length of over 16 feet and a beam of about 6. For anchoring the traditional “poutadas”, or rocks, are still used.

History of the Prinz Eugen German Heavy Cruiser
Prinz Eugen was a German Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser, third in a series of five, which served in the Kriegsmarine during World War II.

She was named after Prince Eugene of Savoy, an Austrian general of the 18th century.

Prinz Eugen was one of the protagonists of Operation Rheinübung, a German attempt in May 1941 to cut off Allied merchant shipping across the Atlantic in which it was accompanied by the battleship Bismarck.

Following the German surrender in May 1945, the Prinz Eugen was transferred to the United States Navy as spoils of war. The US Navy assigned the cruiser to the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll.

The wreck is still visible above the surface of the water; one of her propellers was salvaged and is on display at the Marine-Ehrenmal Laboe naval memorial in Germany.
