MontereyNothing defines the Mid-Pacific Coast Fishing Industry as a visit to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, and if you have visited the Wharf in the last 70 years and looked down at the fishing boats you probably have seen a Monterey Clipper tied up. Well these boats were not built on the Wharf but in a community called Monterey starting out in humble seaside building yards in the 1920’s thru the 1930’s. The Hartman Model Boats Monterey Clipper is based on a typical boat found actually Fishing and brining its Catch of the Day to the Wharf for sale in the 1930’s when the boats were work boats and not painted in a fancy colors but were colorful in there well worn difference. The white gel coated fiberglass hull features the following: • The two top rub rails are molded in place • 7 scupper opening locations on each side • Rudder location • Molded in waterline location

Our Classic 1930 style clipper fishing boat is made to the following dimensions and features.

Delta QueenThe Delta Queen is an American sternwheel steamboat that is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. The Queen is 285 feet long (86.9 meters), 58 feet (17.7m) wide, and draws 11.5 feet (3.5m). The boat weighs 1,650 tons (1,676 metric tons), with a capacity of 200 passengers. Its compound steam engine generates 2,000 ihp, powering a stern-mounted paddlewheel. In 1946, Delta Queen was purchased by Greene Line Steamers of Cincinnati, Ohio and towed via the Panama Canal and the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to be refurbished in Pittsburgh. On that ocean trip she was piloted by Frederick Way Jr.. In 1948 she entered regular passenger service, plying the waters of the Ohio, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Cumberland Rivers between Cincinnati, New Orleans, St.Paul, Chattanooga, Nashville, and ports in between. Ownership of the vessel has changed a number of times over the last fifty years, and since 1971, Delta Queen has operated with a presidential exemption to the law prohibiting the operation of overnight passenger vessels with wooden superstructures. Her Betty Blake Lounge is named in honor of the lady who rose from secretary to president of the steamship line and who lobbied for the exemption. The vessel is now operated by Majestic America Line [1]. The vessels were purchased from the Delaware North Companies in April 2006. Besides the Delta Queen, the company also operates the American Queen and Mississippi Queen, modern steamboats designed along the lines of the Delta Queen, but carrying around 400 passengers. The company also offers riverboat cruises along the Columbia and Snake Rivers in Oregon and Washington, and cruises through the Alaska Inside Passage. The Queen recreates historic steamboat races each year during the Kentucky Derby Festival, when it races with the Belle of Louisville on the Ohio at Louisville in the Great Steamboat Race. The winner of the annual race receives a trophy of golden antlers, which is mounted on the pilot house until the next race. They have also raced during the Tall Stacks festivals celebrating steamboats, held every three or four years in Cincinnati (the Delta Queen's former home port).

On August 1, 2007, Majestic America Line announced that the Delta Queen would cease operations permanently at the end of the 2008 season. The temporary exemption from SOLAS needed to keep the Queen running was reportedly thrown out in a recent Congressional decision. However, devotees of the boat have begun staging a "Save the Delta Queen" campaign similar to the one undertaken in the 1970s. Her future is currently uncertain, but she will continue to operate through November 2008.

The U.S. Maritime Commission designed and built C-2 type cargo ships during World War II, as a much needed large capacity heavy cargo ship for the world’s maritime commerce. The U.S. Navy acquired several of these ships during construction and converted them to fast attack cargo ships, troop transports and ammunitions ships. To keep the vast wartime fleet supplied with every thing from beans to bombs and artillery shells, a large armada of supply ships were needed and these were welcome additions. Some of these ships served with the U.S. and foreign navies, along with several smaller shipping lines.

BluenooseBluenose and her captain, Angus Walters, were inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1955, making her the first and only non-human CSHF inductee until 1960, when she was joined by Canadian Hydroplane Champion Miss Super-test III. That same year another honor was bestowed upon the famous sailing ship when a new Canadian National Railways passenger-vehicle ferry for the inaugural Yarmouth-Bar Harbor service was launched as the M/V Bluenose. Built in 1921, “Bluesnose” beat all challengers starting with the US fleets “Elisa” in 1921 to capture the International Fishing Trophy and maintained her rein for the next 17 years. In 1946 she floundered after running aground on a reef of the coast of Haiti.

Navajo Class Fleet Ocean Tug boat : Generally, named after American Indian tribes, these tugs were used for sea salvage operations. Additionally, these tugs were capable of a reasonable defense and were able to put Hard Hat divers in the water. Many of the tugs lasted long after the war in other navies and in the case of the UTE (ATF-76) in the 1980’s as Coast Guard tugs.

The Hartman Model Boats’ ATF is in 1/48 scale and would be an impressive addition to any builder’s US naval fleet operation. Also, these tugs were sold to many countries and private salvage operations and continued their life well into the 1980’s.

Santa Barbara. If you have been looking for a radio controlled model yacht that majestically sails and elegantly maneuvers like a crew driven Maxi or 60 footer, the Santa Barbara One-Design (OD) is for you. The Santa Barbara is a fractional rigged sloop on a near 6 foot long hull. It’s designed for racing in a range of sailing conditions from performing well in light winds to being, well behaved and manageable in rough waters and 15 knots of wind. It was introduced in 1964 and was one of the first classes to be accepted by the newly formed AMYA in 1971. It is recognized as a modern classic throughout the association. Because of the one-design concept the boats built in the 1960’s are competitive to those boats built in the 90’s when racing around the buoys. Because of the history of stability in design the Santa Barbara remains popular in the association as a “class boat”. The portability of the Santa Barbara is enhanced due to the removable mast, rudder and keel. Most sedans or coupes can transport your yacht to the nearest pond for a day of sailing.

THE ONE PIECE FIBERGLASS HULL IS MOLDED IN WHITE GELCOAT (OTHER COLORS AVAILABLE AS A SPECIAL ORDER) AND HAS THE WATERLINE AND RUDDER LOCATION MOLDED IN. Sometimes you want to model a dream. That is what this series of models is all about. During 29 years the 12 meter was the official boat of the America’s Cup and for 24 of those years the America’s Cup Defense was held off of Newport, R.I. From 1958 thru 1977 the 12 Meter Cup boat we made from traditional materials, great designs and interesting skippers.
MalabarDuring the first 100 years of Yachting, the United States has been blessed with some premier yacht designers. I personally have come to love the designs of Steers, Herreshoff, Alden and Stevens. Needless to say the Malabar series of sailing craft came from one of these designers and has become a tradition in sailing schooners. The basis for this model was developed from the plans of the real schooner by Lloyd (Swede) Johnson, a west coast modeler who obtained a great deal of fame for his US 1 meter class model racing yachts. Based on Swedes model a hull plug was made and turned into a fiberglass mold.

OlympiaThe Olympia is the newest release & oldest product in the Hartman Models Line. This model was the first boat ever produced by Dwight Hartman. It was developed in the 1960’s as a potential design for the emerging E/C 12 Class. When another design was selected for the E/C 12, the Olympia was relegated to the back corner of a friend’s basement. We had the opportunity to buy back the original mold and so we did. Now we are able to make this fine Hull and Deck available to all modelers as we have just put it back into production. Traditional Model Pond Sailboat; circa 1940

The origins of this model started long before Radio Control or Vane Steering, but as a pole boat. Poles were used to turn the boats at the end of each leg of the race course. Then before release the sails, would be reset for the next leg. Our Model is designed for R/C and if you don’t want it to race and prefer to relive those early days of yachting with an impressive model from the 1890's – 1920's style sloop or cutter rigged model,
